Book Name - Book 1: NCERT Class VI: SOCIAL AND POLITICAL LIFE – I

Description

This book is divided into four sections that focus on different concepts i.e. diversity, government, local government and administration and livelihoods. Each section contains chapters that elaborate and expand on these concepts.

This book uses several narratives, both fiction and nonfiction, to enable the child to understand ideas and institutions in lucid manner.

The index is as follows:

UNIT I: DIVERSITY

·       Chapter 1 - Understanding Diversity: Discusses about the concept of diversity and how India's diversity has always been recognised as a source of its strength.

·     Chapter 2 - Diversity and Discrimination: Discusses about the concept of prejudices, Stereotype and discrimination and the provisions in the Constitution for establishment of equality.

UNIT II GOVERNMENT

·         Chapter 3 - What is Government : Discusses why government is needed, levels of government and features of democratic government.

·         Chapter 4 - Key Elements of a Democratic Government : Discusses about the Salient features of Democratic government though examples.

UNIT III LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

·     Chapter 5 - Panchayati Raj : Discusses about the Panchayati Raj System through the structure of Gram Sabha, Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad.
